British Submarine HMS Parthian
"Of
all the branches of men in the Forces, there is none which shows more devotion
and faces grimmer perils than the submariner.
Great deeds are done in the air
and on the land; nevertheless, nothing surpasses your exploits." Winston
Churchill.
"Only in attack does a submarine reveal herself, before creeping away to the concealment of the deep"

11 August 1943. HMS Parthian is declared overdue. She left Malta on 22 July and failed to return to her base in Beirut.
My thanks to Thelma Sharp who has sent me the following image taken onboard what we think may well be HMS Parthian. Her dad is in the image, 6th from left. Parthian was lost in the Mediterranean and Thelma's dad died in 1984. Captain Johnnie Walker's son, Timothy, was one of those lost.

And this is her Dad
